For as long as I can remember, I had a love for animals, especially dogs. I knew I wanted a career with dogs so in 1995 I received my grooming certificate from The New York School of Dog Grooming.
I began grooming at Hastings Farm in Lebanon Pa with a Poodle Breeder. After a few years, I decided to leave because I had a great opportunity to take over and run CM Kennel in Frazer. PA. The owners had left and moved to Ocean City, MD so they rented the business to me. I successfully ran the kennel and grooming for two years giving me the experience of running my own business. When the owners decided to sell it, I tried to purchase it, but ended up not having enough funds.
In 1998, I started my own business again in Frazer called Personal Touch Pet Care, Inc., located on Route 30. I was there for 4 years, but had to move out because the building was renovated. I then moved to 363 East Lincoln Highway in Exton and had a grooming shop there for five years. We did grooming and also sold retail. I had a clientele of about 3,000. I moved out in 2006 and started a mobile grooming service going door to door in a fully equipped grooming van. In 2011, I decided to open up another shop in Exton, PA to accommodate my clients hit hard by the economy and could no longer afford our mobile grooming service.
Now we have both a successful grooming salon and mobile service that I am so happy to be a part of. It’s rewarding to take care of pets and I find it so satisfying to see our pet parents so pleased with our grooming and services.
I have been active in the pet industry since 1988 starting out as a junior handler in the dog show ring. My pet grooming training has included apprenticing, grooming school, watching my co-workers and asking questions. I have worked in tiny basement rooms by myself and with show groomers. I have worked in big corporate salons where I was in charge of 13 people including the training of new groomers. I have worked in animal hospitals where I groomed the pets no one else would groom. I have run my own salon inside a natural pet food store where I learned valuable and in depth information about how pet nutrition relates to pet health. I enjoy helping pet lovers to discover their inner pet stylist and to become the success they have always dreamed of.
Growing up, I always had a love for animals! My family had numerous pets including dogs, cats, a bird and a rabbit. Currently, I have 4 dogs and 2 cats. I always wanted a career working with animals. I thought about working for a kennel or rescue, but decided against it for fear that I would end up taking too many animals home! My aunt had been taking our cats and dog to Personal Touch Pet Care and told me about their training program. I started my apprenticeship at Personal Touch in January 2017. I received thorough training from the groomers at Personal Touch and Randy offered me a job when I graduated. I am very grateful Randy saw potential in me and gave me an amazing career that I truly love.
started grooming 20 plush years ago at Sandy’s Animal Outlet in Pottstown Pa, where I was an apprentice for a year, before I became the head groomer. I worked there several years until it closed. I then started my own business for several years called Cool Dog Grooming in the Pottstown and Birdsboro areas. I decided to make a change and since have joined the Personal Touch Pet Care family. I really enjoy using all my skills on all the different cats and dogs that come into this busy salon. I even get the privilege of sharing my skills and grooming experience by teaching students one on one, which I really enjoy immensely!
I loved animals my whole life! I have had cats, dogs, birds, small animals and horses, throughout the years. At this current time, I have 4 dogs 6 cats and 2 horses in my life. All my cats and dogs are rescued pets. I am also the active President of a nonprofit horse show facility, Good Fellowship Riding Club, in Monocracy Pa.
